Affordable and colorful jewelry for spring

A lot of people are already enjoying the warmer weather these days while some are still waiting for spring. As you browse thru the pages and sites of the fashion world, you will be overwhelmed by bright clothes, pastels, florals, and neons. If you are looking for jewelry ideas for spring, here are some good pieces that will be very affordable for you:

Shawn Warren

Shawn Warren based in New York came up with wrap bracelets that you can get in neon colors. The bracelets coil around your wrist smoothly while the magnetic clasp will not cause any problem. The chunkier chains look better with more dramatic effect. Cheap yet classy, this is how I will describe these wrap bracelets.

Some of the choices include a wrap bracelet in blue leather with silver and gunmetal chain. The eye catching neon yellow version too also look great. You can get them for $275.

Jewelry Basics: Understanding the common settings for an engagement ring

You might be a knight in shining armor looking for a ring to seal an engagement or you might be a bride day-dreaming about a precious gem on your ring finger. Either or, deciding on the how a stone should be set on your engagement ring may be a daunting task for many. Do not fret though, here are some basic things that may help you out:

Classic Solitaire

set01This is a very popular setting for diamond engagement rings. The stone is positioned high to allow maximum exposure and enhance its brilliance. The diamond also appears bigger in this kind of setting.

Cathedral Solitaire

set02This setting puts the stone well inside the confines of the bands which extends from each side. This is basically done to have good protection of your diamond.

Contour Solitaire

set03The Contour Solitaire setting also offers maximum protection of your center diamond as it uses the band to hug the stone but the band tapers upward.

Knife Edge

set04This engagement ring setting makes use of angled shanks that are highly polished which exposes the center diamond to light enhancing its brilliance. This is very similar to the classic solitaire.

Trellis Solitaire

set05This is another popular setting which follows the Art Nouveau style. It makes use of interlaced prongs to hug the diamond in the middle. It is very elegant to look at and very easy to wear.

Bezel Set Solitaire

set06This kind of diamond engagement ring setting provides maximum protection as a whole rim overlaps the perimeter of the stone. The bride to be can wear her engagement ring without the fear of losing the stone while she busy with her everyday stuff.

Multiple stones or with Sidestones

side01Adding additional diamonds will definitely add brilliance to the stones. You can consult your jeweler what cuts of stones would fit the look you want to achieve.

Wear Your Secret Deodorant and Win a Fifteen Thousand Dollar Diamond

What two things come to mind when you hear the word “flawless”? Well naturally “Secret Flawless™” and “flawless diamonds”. And if you still do not understand, then let me explain. Most of you in the US and Canada know the commercial where the girl walks through the streets with her arms in the air touting the reasons to wear Secret’s new Flawless deodorant. It is a catchy little ad that is hard to resist.

In order to promote the product further, Secret has announced that with the purchase of specially marked packages of Secret Flawless™, there will be chances to win prizes that include a brilliant and spectacular one carat flawless diamond worth fifteen thousand US dollars. Sorry Canada, apparently the contest is only being offered to US residents.

Vivien Leigh’s Ring to be sold at Bonhams

The Art of Jewels Sale to be held by Bonhams on 4 December in London is shaping up to be a star-studded event. A stunning 18th century diamond, ruby and emerald ring, given by Vivien Leigh, the female star of the Hollywood blockbuster Gone with the Wind, to her life-long friend, is expected to fetch £1,500-2,000.

The “giardinetto” ring, designed as a bouquet of flowers, was a gift from the actress Vivien Leigh (1913-1967) to the vendor’s grandmother, the actress Mercia Swinburne (1900-1993). The pair became life-long friends after they were introduced by Vivien’s husband, Sir Laurence Olivier.

Mercia and her husband George Relph acted in many performances with the Oliviers, including a number of plays during a six-month tour with the Old Vic Theatre Company of Australia and New Zealand in 1948. The writer George Cotterell in his book Laurence Olivier, London, 1975, records, “The Old Vic touring party comprised ten administrative and technical staff and forty actors, including some of the Oliviers’ closest friends, most notably George Relph and his wife Mercia Swinburne”. Swinburne and Leigh performed alongside one another in The School for Scandal and in the Old Vic’s revered performance of The Skin of Our Teeth. The tour was met with high acclaim.

Good resource on Home Jewellery Parties

If you’re planning on doing a home jewelry party, it’s always important to make sure that the party plan you choose for your home party is one that suits not only yourself, but also the people you’re inviting… You want to focus on having fun, not necessarily making money, even though the hostesses in most plans will give you a little cut most of the time…

I’ve been to a Lia Sophia and a Silpada Designs party myself, and I have to say I loved Lia Sophia way way way more, but that’s just me maybe… They looked more professional and way more prepared for the needs of my friends…

If YOU have ideas, pointers, etc… let us know in the comments section!

Hearts on Fire’s Architectural Collection

Without doubt, there are several jewelers throughout the world who are known for their exquisite pieces, dazzling creations, and superior workmanship. Hearts on Fire is one of those companies. Founded in 1996 by Glenn and Susan Rothman, the American based company takes pride in being the supplier of “perfect diamonds”. So enraptured with perfection, they trademarked the term ‘The World’s Most Perfectly Cut Diamond”.

Quickly becoming a leader in fine diamonds and luxury jewelry, the company is accepted by the community as one who defines the diamond industry. In 2006, The Robb Report, a magazine that writes about luxurious and expensive products ranging from boats to jewelry, recognized Hearts on Fire as an icon and an innovator. In the same year, the company designed a spectacular six and a half million dollar diamond bra for Victoria’s Secret.
