Jane Taylor Jewelry: Check It Out!

jt3

So when I was looking up jewelry for this blog, what I realized is that so many designers now-a-day are all about complicating jewelry.  Honestly, I think that jewelry should be completely and totally uncomplicated and simple and that is exactly what Jane Taylor does in her jewelry designs.

Not only is her jewelry incredible looking, but honestly, her jewelry is some of the simplest looking jewelry but it is also extremely popular and definitely worth checking out.

One thing I love about simple jewelry is that you do not need any other accessory when you have just a floating diamond on or just a ring with a single gemstone in it.  That is what Jane Taylor’s jewelry line is all about.  So if you are looking for simple jewelry that is not complicated at all, you should check her line out – I promise that you will love it!

The Star Sapphire: Simply The Best!

burma-star-sapphire-ring

So really, when I first saw this ring, it blew me away!  Not only do I love the detail on the ring itself, but the stone is absolutely breathtaking and certainly one of the best looking stones in the world!  Now, you are probably wondering what the difference between the star sapphire and a regular sapphire is.  Well folks, the difference is that glowing from inside the stone.

Do you see how hazy the stone looks and it almost looks as if it is glowing from the inside out?  Well, that is the difference.  That and the clarity, as most regular sapphires, you can see right through it for the most part, this one is cloudy and definitely a little more milky than the regular sapphire.

So if you are looking for something that is different – completely different, you should definitely check out the star sapphire, it looks just like a twinkling star from the sky on your finger!

Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend

01-cathy-waterman-feb2

Well, of course diamond’s are a girl’s best friend — we’ve all known that for years.  But did you realize that platinum is a really close runner up?  A lot of jewelry designers are choosing platinum of yellow gold, white gold, and silver — and when you look at a piece like the one above, it is very easy to see why!

That is a band designed by Cathy Waterman.  Never heard of her?  Yeah, I had never heard of her either — nor had I heard of any of the other jewelry designers which are going to be featured in the weeks to come.  It is amazing how many awesome designers out there that many of us have never heard of, but who make some of the most gorgeous jewelry you have ever seen.

Like this diamond and platinum baby band, just as a for instance.  When you take one look at it, it is hard to understand why you haven’t been checking out works by this designer long before now, right?

Vivien Leigh’s Ring to be sold at Bonhams

The Art of Jewels Sale to be held by Bonhams on 4 December in London is shaping up to be a star-studded event. A stunning 18th century diamond, ruby and emerald ring, given by Vivien Leigh, the female star of the Hollywood blockbuster Gone with the Wind, to her life-long friend, is expected to fetch £1,500-2,000.

The “giardinetto” ring, designed as a bouquet of flowers, was a gift from the actress Vivien Leigh (1913-1967) to the vendor’s grandmother, the actress Mercia Swinburne (1900-1993). The pair became life-long friends after they were introduced by Vivien’s husband, Sir Laurence Olivier.

Mercia and her husband George Relph acted in many performances with the Oliviers, including a number of plays during a six-month tour with the Old Vic Theatre Company of Australia and New Zealand in 1948. The writer George Cotterell in his book Laurence Olivier, London, 1975, records, “The Old Vic touring party comprised ten administrative and technical staff and forty actors, including some of the Oliviers’ closest friends, most notably George Relph and his wife Mercia Swinburne”. Swinburne and Leigh performed alongside one another in The School for Scandal and in the Old Vic’s revered performance of The Skin of Our Teeth. The tour was met with high acclaim.
